Hello Bluesky!

Why we’ve moved to Bluesky… F*ck Twitter

Once upon a time, Twitter was the place for connection, conversation, and community. We started using it back in 2008 and for a while we were very engaged, the audience felt positive and real. It offered a unique perspective for us as a restaurant as it effectively allowed for real time feedback as customers where sitting down – which at the time felt like a really new concept.

It allowed us to gauge and react to how well we were doing and some key operational decisions were made over the years based on feedback we got from the users on the platform.

Nowadays, every time we open the Moose twitter account it’s a metaphorical car crash. Hateful posts, nasty content from people we’ve never interacted with fill our feed. It’s way to mentally draining to look at, so F*ck Twitter.

Why Bluesky?

Bluesky feels like what Twitter used to be - a space for discussion without the interference of billionaires who would rather amplify conspiracy theories than real conversations. It’s built on the idea of decentralisation, meaning no single person controls it, and that’s something we can get behind.

At Moose, we want to connect with people who care about more than just brunch. Whether it’s talking about industry challenges, social issues, or simply sharing a killer pancake recipe, we’re here to create conversations - not just exist on a platform that no longer reflects our values (Be Authentic, Be Respectful, Be Passionate)!

No Platform for Hate

We’ve always believed that businesses have a responsibility to take a stand. Choosing where we engage online is part of that. We’re not interested in funding platforms that give a megaphone to Trump-style rhetoric, silence marginalised voices, or put profits over people.

What are your thoughts on this shift? Do you agree with us or feel differently? Let us know - we always value your perspective.

So, if you’re looking for us, make sure you follow us on Bluesky at @moosecoffee.bsky.social Same Moose, same values - just in a space that actually feels like it’s worth being a part of.

See you there. 👋
